Executive Director

Born in Haiti in 1954, Mr. Esperance received his early education from missionary–sponsored schools. In 1985, he graduated from Berean School of the Bible in Springfield, Missouri with a Diploma in Ministerial Studies and was ordained by the Assemblies of God in 1991. Mr. Esperance graduated Cum Laude from Tampa College, receiving a B.A. in 1991 and an M.B.A. in 1993.

Mr. Esperance served as Associate Pastor of the Chardon Assembly of God church in Chardon, Ohio for one year; as Founder and Pastor and of Holiness Church of God in Painesville, Ohio for two years; and then as Pastor and Founder of Pinellas Christian Center in St. Petersburg, Florida for five years before returning to Haiti as a missionary. There Mr. Esperance opened bible schools for leadership training, planted new churches, and built orphanages and schools to educate a new generation of children in Haiti.

In 1993 Mr. Esperance and his wife were approved as Assemblies of God missionaries to Haiti.  They traveled throughout the U.S. to raise funds, then moved to Haiti in 1995 where they worked until 2004. 

Through the years, the Esperance family worked to establish extension bible school centers around the country. They distributed clothes to the poor, coordinated church-building projects, addressed the increasing AIDS problem in Haiti by educating youth with AIDS literature, and pastured a church of 450 members.  The Esperances’ also founded a Christian school in Chalon, Haiti in 1997; the school currently enrolls 650 children.    

Mr. Esperance is the author of The Twelve Spiritual Stones and served as General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God in Haiti from 1998 until his return to the U.S. in 2004.

Upon returning to the U.S., Mr. Esperance accepted the invitation to serve as cultural liaison for the New Jersey District Council of the Assemblies of God. During his tenure he trained several Haitian pastors for credentialing, and in 2005 was elected president of the newly formed Haitian-American Fellowship of the Assemblies of God. 

Most recently, Mr. Esperance was the Executive Director for Christian Outreach, overseeing two orphanages with over 200 children, two churches, and two grade schools.  He served in this capacity until his appointment as Executive Director of Happy Workers Children’s Center in 2008.
 

 

JENNIE ROSE
Executive Administrative Assistant

Ms. Rose works as the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director, overseeing all administrative staff.  She is responsible for all administrative matters and ensures that the executive office runs like clockwork.
 

Patricia NeedomPATRICIA NEEDOM
Credential Director

Mrs. Needom oversees all areas of the center to ensure conformity with state licensing regulations and the overall safety of the campus. She has worked in child care for over 33 years and holds both her Director Credentials and CDA Certificate.
 

Lisa MurrayLISA MURRAY
Assistant Credential Director

Ms. Murray oversees the daily operations of the school, including teacher scheduling, student/teacher ratios, and ensuring classroom resources are ready and available. She also helps with the coordination of the special events, activities, and field trips that enhance the student experience at Happy Workers. Ms. Lisa has been employed with Happy Workers since 1992.

Client Services Director

Ms. Esperance manages child enrollment, ensuring a smooth enrollment process for all student and their families. She also maintains student health records and oversees accounts receivable for the organization, ensuring timely payments. In her position she assures that all data is current, correct, and adheres to licensing standards.
 

Shirley CollinsSHIRLEY COLLINS
Food Program Manager

Ms. Collins has been working with young children for 25 years and teaching and mentoring children at Happy Workers for 20 years. She is dedicated to the school’s mission and committed to its vision. Ms. Collins’ training includes a National CDA, a Florida CDAE, and a Childcare Supervisor certificate from PTEC.

In March 2008 Ms. Collins was appointed to a Food Program Manager, where she supervises the food program staff workers, oversees inventory ordering and monitoring, and reports and documents food service accounts. In addition to her love of cooking, Ms. Collins has an extensive background in food preparation and entertaining that includes two years of business training, ten years as a restaurant manager, and three years as an apprentice training in food service.

Ms. Geneva has been with Happy Workers for one year and enjoys seeing the pride the children take in themselves when they accomplish a new milestone. She currently works with our three year olds.

Ms. Cooper has worked for Happy Workers for the past six years. Her favorite aspect of her work is making the commitment to caring interactions. She has worked in child care for the past 10 years and currently works in our nursery.
 

Valerie FloydVALERIE FLOYD
Teacher

Ms. Floyd has worked for Happy Workers for the five years, where she enjoys working with the children as they explore the arts. Ms. Floyd works with our three year old children.
 

Sharon HowardSHARON HOWARD
Teacher

Ms. Sharon, who has been with Happy Workers for just a few months, has made tremendous progress with the children in our three year old classes. Her favorite aspect of working with the children is being able to meet their needs.
 

Doris IngramDORIS INGRAM

Ms. Doris has worked for Happy Workers since June 2008. She enjoys the happiness that the children express daily.

 

 

 

CYNTHIA JOHNSON
Kitchen Aide

Ms. Johnson has worked in our kitchen staff for a few years and loves to see the children interact with each other. Her favorite observation? “Children say the funniest things.” How true!
 

 

 

Gertrude JonesGERTRUDE JONES
Classroom Supervisor

Ms. Jones works daily with the teachers and students in the classroom, assisting teachers in their lesson and activity planning, and teaching children in the classroom environment. Ms. Jones has worked for Happy Workers for 34 years. She enjoys seeing the children learn and interact with other people, while developing their own individual personalities.
 

 

 

Irish RobinsonIRISH ROBINSON
VPK Specialist and Peace Camp Coordinator

Ms. Robinson works with VPK students to make sure they are prepared for public kindergarten. She also serves as coordinator of the Summer Peace Camp for school age children.
 

WILMA RHODES
Part-time Floater

Ms. Rhodes is a part-time teacher who floats between age groups to fill in wherever needed. She has worked for Happy Workers for five years and enjoys watching the children grow.

Ms. Rubin is a part-time teacher who works in our nursery department and has been with Happy Workers for three years. Her favorite aspect of working with children is keeping them safe and happy.
